How do I book my accommodation?

There are a number of ways in which you can make a booking.

1. You can fill out our applications on-line by logging on to our website www.templarshall.com.  You will receive an email confirming that we have received your application. However in order to secure you’re booking a deposit of €400 must be paid within 5 working days. After which the application will become void. 

2. You can also call into our main office on Manor Street in Waterford and fill out an application with one of our staff members. Again the €400 must be paid in order to secure the booking.

3. If you wish to call a member of staff on 00353 51 304911, we can post out an application form to you. You can return the application by post along with the booking deposit.



What happens to my deposit should I cancel?

If you cancel within 3 working days of the first round CAO offers, you will receive €300 of your deposit back. We must receive this cancellation in writing within this time. The €100 is an administration cancelling fee.

Should you cancel after this date you will lose all of the deposit and may be subject to paying a minimum of 1 months’ rent.

What happens if I break my contract?

If you vacate during term time and break your contract, you will lose your deposit and rent paid.

How much will it cost?

The rent varies depending on the room type which you choose:

Double (one person): €330.00

Double Ensuite (one person): €350.00

Single Room: €285.00

Twin Room: €215.00

When can I move in?

Students can move into their house from the 1st of September once the full deposit, the first month’s rent, last months’ rent and the refuse is paid.

If I arrive early, can I move in early?

Students can only move in from the start of the lease date which is the 1st of September.

How do I pay my rent?

Rent is paid through a standing order. We accept bank transfers, postal order and cheques for the initial payment due in September (proof of bank transfer is required by the 1st of September). We advise students to set up a bank account in which rent and utility bills can be deducted from.

When do I pay my rent?

Rent is payable from the first of every month.

What other bills will I have?

Other bills which are not included in the rental price are ESB, GAS, NTL and TV Licence. Meter readings are taken on the first day of the lease and again on the last day of the lease.

All bills are shared equally among housemates. All household bills are to be transferred into the name of the head tenant. Bills are the sole responsibility of the household and will be passed on directly to all named tenants.

Can I move in before I pay my rent?

Unfortunately in order to move in we must receive the deposit in full, a first months rent, last months rent and refuse payment must be paid in advance.

Is smoking permitted within the houses?

All our houses in Templars Hall have a strictly no smoking policy.

What should I bring with me?

Each house has a fully fitted kitchen. Some house will require crockery, cutlery, and cooking utensils. You will require bed linen, a mattress protector, a duvet, a pillow, towels, tea towels and clothes hangers.

Kitchens are fully fitted with a dining table and chairs. Each house contains armchairs and a sofa. Most bedroom’s contains a bed, a desk, a chair and a wardrobe.

Are there car parking facilities?

Yes there is parking facilities at all our houses. However we advise students not to park on the curbing, footpaths and the grass areas. Clamping will be in operation.

Can I choose which house I would prefer to reside in?

On the application form, there is a section which allows you to request a certain house. We will do our best to accommodate these request’s however this cannot be guaranteed.

How long is my lease for?

The academic year and letting period for your house is 39 weeks. The lease will commence on the 1st of September and cease on 31st May. This will include all holiday’s throughout this time period.

When are the deposits returned?

Deposits will be returned after an exit inspection is completed on the house upon the expiry of the lease.

Will I be allowed to have guest stay over?

Overnight guests are not permitted unless they are signed in to the overnight guests book located in the Main Office. Any student who attempts to sublet a room will be in breach on their lease agreement.

Are the houses insured?

All personal belongs are not insured. Please call to the WIT Students Union Welfare Officer for more information www.witsu.ie

What should I definitely NOT bring?

Do not bring pets, large bulky items, deep fat fryers, candles etc. Also ensure that all electrical appliances meet the proper electrical safety standards.
